TrulyDogFriendly.com was launched in May 2006 by a coalition of dog trainers and behavior consultants concerned with the proliferation of the use of shock collars and other harmful tools and methods within their profession.

How do we define dog-friendly? Simple: pain-free.

Our membership includes visionary leaders and trainers, among them Pat Miller, CDBC, CPDT, former APDT President, owner of Peaceable Paws Academy, and author of the respected book The Power of Positive Dog Training; Don Hanson, CDBC, CPDT, owner of Green Acres Kennel Shop and current President of the APDT Board of Directors; Laura Van Dyne, CPDT, also a current APDT Board member; and James O’Heare, CABC, President of the Companion Animal Sciences Institute, author of The Canine Aggression Workbook and APDT member.
